Arthritis Trials

(Evening Echo 28.10.17)

A clinical food trials company based in Cork, Atlantia Food Trials, is holding an open day at the Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre (MPHC) on Tuesday to raise awareness of a study it is running to combat osteoarthritis.

The condition affects 750,000 people nationwide. Andrea Doolan, CEO of Atlantia, said visitors would learn more about osteoarthritis and about possible ground breaking treatments, from food based supplements, that could ease the condition. She said “We are looking for approximately 200 people to take part in our trial – interest has been strong so far. Sadly, the fact that so many people are affected by this disease means that there is a big pool of people.”

“One in five of us in Ireland will suffer with some form of arthritis.”
